Raúl Pérez Mato, NADIS doctoral candidate at the University of Genova, shared his work at the NAD Metabolism and Signaling FASEB Conference in Lisbon. With a poster presentation called “The TRPM2 ion channel regulates the browning process in human adipose tissue” he showed his latest results from this project that studies TRPM2, a calcium channel gated by the NAD+ derived second messenger ADPR. TRPM2 plays an important role in brown adipose tissue activation and white adipose tissue browning, and pharmacological activation of it could present potential benefits for the treatment of obesity.
With this poster, Raúl was awarded with one of the five poster awards at the conference!
